A native of Dallas, Texas, Chandra North was born in 1973 and grew up with aspirations of becoming a ballerina. As a teenager, Chandra would hit the underground clubs while her classmates attended school dances.
She has been a staple in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, which we look forward to every year with schoolboy glee. Her appearance in the 2002 issue marks the fifth time her elegant frame has graced the pages of the magazine.
With a name like North, it is a delicious twist of irony that Chandra North is a good old Texan girl at heart. We first fell for her back in 1996 when she posed in the most provocative and funky layout in the entire SI Swimsuit Edition. Her appeal is in the fact that she is an anomaly in the world of fashion.
