Biography: A talented and charismatic actress, Charlotte Ross has demonstrated her range and ability in a variety of roles and performances. She proves herself once again as a cast member of the critically acclaimed, award-winning ABC television series "NYPD Blue." As the female lead of the show, Ross portrays Irish Detective Connie McDowell. Prior to "NYPD Blue," Ross starred in the Showtime series "Beggars and Choosers," one of the last projects developed by Brandon Tartikoff. The affectionate satire was inspired by Tartikoff's experience in the television industry and centered on characters attempting to survive in that chaotic and backstabbing world. Ross played a Machiavellian character who was ruthless, quick-witted and ruled by blind ambition. Ross also starred in the television series "Trinity," created by John Wells, and in the NBC Television miniseries "A Will of Their Own." She has had lead roles in such television shows as "The Five Mrs. Buchanans," "The Heights" (for which she received a Gold Record) and the telefilms "A Kiss So Deadly," "Fall Into Darkness," "She Says She's Innocent" and "Dark Waters." Previously Ross garnered two Emmy Award nominations for her popular role on "Days of Our Lives," and she has had a plethora of notable guest appearances on many other hit television series. She guest-starred as Dr. Frasier Crane's love interest in the Valentine's Day special of "Frasier." She has also portrayed a manic-depressive on "Birdland," opposite Brian Dennehy, a strung-out drug addict on "ER," and had the recurring role of a slain policeman's wife on "NYPD Blue." A chameleon in her craft, Ross has also appeared in such feature films as "Touch and Go" with Michael Keaton, "Love & a .45," opposite Gil Bellows and Renee Zellwegger, "Savage Land," Foreign Students" and "Donuts." Ross was discovered in a theatre performance at the age of 13. At New Trier High School she continued her studies in performing arts and trained at the Steppenwolf Theatre and Second City in Chicago. Eventually she parlayed her acting prowess onto the stage in Los Angeles, performing at the Pasadena Playhouse and Tiffany Theater. In addition she studied with renowned acting coach Roy London. Among her many talents, Ross also possesses an amazing singing voice. She studied opera for five years, and her talent has been highlighted with almost every character she has portrayed. Ross also has collaborated with Jane Goodall Institute, SPCA and PETA for many years. While on location in Puerto Rico she adopted a homeless dog named "Taco," who now befriends her yellow Labrador, "Alex" and her one-eyed Pekinese, "Katy."
