Christina Moore makes That ’70s Show that much sexier.
We curse our parents for two reasons: for giving away our baby sister and for not having us 10 years earlier. If we had been teenagers in the ’70s, we would have known girls like Laurie Forman, the Farrah-licious chick played by Christina Moore on Fox’s That ’70s Show. (She took over this season for Lisa Robin Kelly.) But as Christina explains, those wild and crazy, anything-goes girls are long gone: “There’s an entirely different thing to being the ’70s slut, because that was pre-AIDS, pre-crazy-STDs. Sex didn’t carry the same stigma in that time period. It was free love. [Today] you have to be way more careful.” That’s why we conducted this interview over the phone while wearing a condom. Who knows where that phone has been?
STUFF: Much like when David Lee Roth turned into Sammy Hagar, you’ve taken over another actor’s role. Was it difficult to fill the first Laurie’s shoes?
CHRISTINA: Laurie is one of those people you love to hate—she’s bitchy and mean and slutty. And of course, now she’s married to Fez, so all of my lines are like, “Get away from me, you idiot!” and “I’m not sleeping with you, ever!” The first time I did a live taping, the audience booed. They love Fez, but they booed because I was the new girl and they didn’t want me to be there. That ’70s Show has its fanatics. They just felt like they weren’t consulted. So once they get over that, then they’ll have fun.
If you could take over a real person’s life, whose body would you step into?
Oh, that’s easy—Faith Hill. I would be Faith Hill in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t care to have her three kids, but [I’d love to have] her husband and her rock stardom and her fancy clothes and her shoes and all that shit. I spend hours and hours and hours dreaming about Faith Hill’s life. I think it’s the whole fairy tale—which I’m sure is not without its conflict. The husband and the kids all tour together and are crazy for each other.
What do you think of your costar Ashton Kutcher filling Demi Moore’s generation gap?
I get it. I was thinking about calling Frankie Muniz and asking him out on a date. [Laughs] It would be weird if Demi looked like a 40-year-old woman from the Midwest, but she’s a fuckin’ hottie. She’s got a better body than I do.
