Biography:
Sarah Chalke was born on August 27, 1976 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The middle of three daughters had by two adoption agency mediators, Sarah was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. Chalke caught the performing bug early on. She started to act in musical theater productions at the age of 8. At 16, she had a spot as an environmental reporter for the Canadian children's program, KidZone.
Okay, so we've got a soft spot for Roseanne. But who doesn't? Even those who dislike the loud-mouthed star have a certain sense of admiration for John Goodman, her two TV daughters, and even Tom Arnold's goofball antics. This is the much-loved atmosphere that Sarah Chalke walked into as the replacement for "Becky" in 1993. She had huge shoes to fill, and she succeeded, winning over most of the former Becky's -- portrayed by Lecy Goranson -- fans.
But Chalke has also seen her career through since the cancellation of the show. While many actors get discouraged doing low-profile work, Sarah has maintained motivation and a positive attitude through dozens of low-budget films and made-for-TV movies.
